NEWS what's up in our world

WHY THE SHOW'S PLAYLIST SUCKS NOW: | The powers that be around the Rebel Radio studio have informed us that Bullet In The Head deviates too much from the standard format. They made us change it using the excuse that the average Ole Miss student would not understand us. The standard playlist is used to make money by selling airtime during songs that the majority of our sponsors feel hits a target audience, namely college students. Making money is fine, but the playlist is crap and no commercials are aired during Bullet In The Head. We are of the opinion that our audience is intelligent and open-minded enough to listen to our show the way it used to be. Help us voice our complaint. Call 601-232-7697 and ask for either John, Jessica, or David. If they are unavailable ask for their office numbers. Do not forget to leave messages and to complain like this is the end of the world. Thank you for your support. WIN A DATE WITH KING ARTHUR: Our first contest!!! To enter you must follow the rules, and be able to get to the post office. All entries must be eighteen and mail us a fifty word or less essay about why they want a date with King Arthur as well as a photo of themself and their phonenumber. MOVIES MOVIES MOVIES MOVIES MOVIES: | EBOLA SYNDROME: 1996, subtitled. Stars: Anthony Wong. FOUR AND A HALF OUT OF FIVE STARS! If you ever want to see someone chop their boss up into hamburgers and feed him to his own customers, this is your film. This has to be the most intense bad-taste film I've ever seen. Most of the scares are played for paranoia. Outbreak has nothing on this film. Starring Anthony Wong (Heroic Trio, Hard Boiled) as a fugitive psycopath, the film spreads its germs from South Africa to Hong Kong, killing a whole lot of people in its wake. Wong contracts the Ebola virus, but does not die from it, making him a carrier able to spread it from one person to the next. Remember, he's playing a psychopath, this leads to all kinds of diabolical things. Not for the squeamish or easily offended.---King Arthur MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC: DEATH TO THE PIXIES: Artist: The Pixies FIVE OUT OF FIVE STARS!! The album everybody should have. If you're a Pixies fan or even if you have no idea who they were, you have to own this. It includes some of their greatest songs (sadly, Alec Eiffel, their cover of Head On, and I've Been Tired are absent, but everything else is there) and a live Pixies show recorded in Germany where according to Frank Black himself, "The Pixies were so big in Europe, Germany especially, that we could not experience death while there." BOOKS BOOKS BOOKS BOOKS BOOKS: PLAYING THE FUTURE by Douglas Rushkoff FOUR AND A HALF OUT OF FIVE STARS!! The most enlightened and enlightening book about youth culture I've ever read. Occasionally, Rushkoff ventures a little too far out into nerdland, but this is seldom. He covers everything from the internet to body piercing, and even references many cult films in the process. If you ever wondered what you were or the other kids were thinking and what role your generation could play in the future, Doug has some fantastic facts, theories, and ideas.
